Borderers it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Chalmers.
Davey Chalmers Jnr passed on the following message:
Just to let you know that my dad, 23930368 Sgt Dave Chalmers passed away this morning 20 Feb 26 at the age of 80yrs old.
My dad joined the Regiment having completed his training in Berwick in 1963 and served until just after the Belize Tour in 1978.
He started off in Charlie Company and migrated to Battalion HQ in the clerical team alongside the likes of Bill French and Alistair Nelson. Having completed deployments in Northern Ireland, Borneo, Libya, Radfan & Aden, he was a keen advocate for the Edinburgh Branch Association and did the Branch Secretary role for a good couple of decades.
He was always looking to enhance the Borderer Veteran social and parade scene to include charitable events such as taking Archie Johnston to Berlin as a dying wish during his final months in Hospice. Having lost my mum Ann in 2020, dad struggled with health and his lost companionship. RIP
